Meagan Lortie

President, Barrie Native Friendship Centre Youth Council

    Meagan Lortie is the Wasa Nabin (“to look ahead” in Ojibway) Program Worker at the Barrie Native Friendship Centre and therefore the Champion of the Youth Council. Meagan was born and raised in Barrie and also attended youth programming at the BNFC when she was 13-15. She took Georgian  College’s Aboriginal Community and Social Development program which sparked her career choice and her investment in her culture and ancestry. Meagan is currently on her journey to figuring out what it means to be an Anishnaabe Kwe and what her role in her community is.
